What is the opinion of opti idle? I have never used it and was curious if it will keep you cool when you are trying to get some sleep

What I've heard from a friend that has it is you'll want to shut down later in the evening if you're schedule allows, and start your break with the truck as cold as you can get it. He says it's not great on hot summer nights but he prefers it to the headaches he had with the APU on his previous truck.

I’ll take my diesel powered APU any day over Opti-Crapple.

I'm in my second opti-idle Cascadia, matched with a bunk heater. It works great. No issues in the summer with AC, in fact most of the time it is too cold. I end up having to put it on the lowest settings and block and redirect some of the vents, even in 100 degree weather. In cooler weather that requires less cooling, it will start and shutdown the engine periodically. I've never had and issue. In the winters, it will always make sure the battery is charged by starting up the engine when necessary due to engine temperature or if the batteries need a charge.

    I love opti-idle.

I was parked beside a CRST truck one night. It had that opti idle on it. The truck fired up on its own about twice every hour and ran for maybe 10 minutes.

How’s a driver suppose to get a good night’s sleep with that? (Truck shaking every time it shuts down, probably beeping when it starts up).

It takes a couple nights to get used to, then you don't notice.
