Figured I’d do a quick update...
I had orientation at their Bellingham MA location Monday and Tuesday. Drove down Sunday afternoon and got up and left at 3am wednesday, partially to skip out on the 495 traffic but mostly because I’d been getting up around then for a couple days to get acclimated to the schedule.
Trained yesterday and today, and will again tomorrow. My schedule is Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat, 2:30a start time unless my previous day dictates otherwise due to the 10hr break. So far I couldn’t be more pleased. I wanted a driving job that pays well, is active, day shift (is it though?), and local. I feel like I did the absolute best I could do to check those boxes, so I’m happy.
I couldn’t imagine coming at this job as an OTR guy or someone who isn’t used to an active day though. It is legit work. I’be spent the past two years on a farm so I’m pretty used to it, but it’s no joke. Certainly more physically demanding than farming. To me, as an althetic 26 year old, it’s an appealing aspect.
Question to any other food service guys that might see this, what do you wear for underwear in the summer heat? Seriously. I’ve got some really nice underwear that are almost perfect, but they still bunch with all the moving around. After 12-14 hours in the heat and humidity, that could turn to a painfully chaffed situation haha

Been pushing a dolly for 10 years now.... you will thank me later.
Slim51 Thanks this. -
Beautiful. I have the lotromin version of this but don’t like it. I’ll get some of this on my way home. So far so good but I know it’ll get me sooner or later.

How far is the commute ? There's a opening near me but it's a hour away I wouldn't mine the 4 day week
-
Right now it’s 45 minutes. We close on a house next Monday where I’ll be around 15-20 minutes away. To me an hour is just too #### far to commute, but I know a lot of people do it. What location would you be looking at?

Under Armour Heatgear compression. A bit pricey but well worth it.Slim51 Thanks this.

When I was package at UPS, a lot of the guys said they went commando to stop chaffing. The other thing I've heard but never tried is using antiperspirant deodorant down there before putting on your underwear which keeps you dry. Supposedly, the antiperspirant trick works really well.Slim51 Thanks this.

I just moved to south Florida and they have a position open for $30.12 a hour but the warehouse is 50 miles away. Do you get a helper ?Slim51 Thanks this.
-
Yes, atleast where I am you have a helper. In my case I’m a helper one day and driver the other three days. I’m not sure how hard they run in Florida, but here 12-14 is normal and using the extension isn’t uncommon.

Do you get pay the same when you go out as the helper? And how many stops do you average a day ?
Thanks for answering the questions .Slim51 Thanks this.
