Eight433,sounds like you have the same interests that I do.I enjoy woodworking, especially making things for my wife as she appreciates them so much.I have been into classic vehicles for quite a few years.I have a 1955 Chevy shortbox pickup that I have upgraded, streetrodded out.350,motor,700R4 tranny,M2 frontend, etc. Also a 1972 Chevy shortbed, with a 350 motor, and 400 turbo tranny. Both are show vehicles. So with the 7 on 7 off program at Roehl I still have some time to keep up with things.

I drive for Roehl, and most of the time, if the speed limits allow it, I travel at 65-66mph, and have never had anything said about it. Recently I did 638 miles in 10 hours, figure out the average for yourself . . . (btw, my overspeed percentage was 0.07 when I looked yesterday)

hey road dog thanks for the welcome but I guess I wont be joining roehl after all ,had a misdemeanor from 98 they said it would be ok cause it was over 8 yrs. ago but when I sent the info on it I was rejected ,I guess cause it was a very small amount of canabis which since then I ve been completely sober since nov of 98 ,and can prove it and would agree to testing any time any place but I guess the trucking industry doesnt give any one a second chance when it comes to that at least the really desirable companies like roehl,I guess I better not do any more applications until I get this espunged ,I am so dissapointed but it just shows that messing with anything like that can have very severe long lasting consequences ,good luck every one with roehl I will just have keep on plugging ,any one know any decent companies who might be more accepting of someone in this predicament and Merry Christmas to all

Hi All,
First post! ...I think!?!?
I've been online here a few other times.. lurking. I don't think I posted anything!?
Most of you sound like pretty good people (with a few banned exceptions :smt043 ). Thanks for all the great info!!
I've been in CDL school for the last few weeks. The Roehl crutr came to talk once. The instructors said she was the most 'straight-shooting' recruiter they had ever known, but we should make our own decisions. Those same instructors rarely say anything positive OR negative about any of the recruiters.
I guess I can't say much about the recruiter or Roehl, since I'm just finishing school and can't actually vouch for anything in a real trucker's life... but she sure was a class act! She was a little older, and she looked and sounded as good as any CEO or professional I've ever had a conversation with. ...I mean, enough to pretty much blow me away!
I'm seriously considering Roehl more than the rest of the companies that sent crutrs out to our school, particularly after reading this thread.
I just thought I'd drop in here somewhere to say..
Thanks to All :smt111
Merry Christmas!
and Happy New Year!

After finishing CDL school and listening to all the recruiter's I decided on Roehl .
From what all I have read , it looks like a good choice .
I HOPE ! :SMT102
I will start at Ellenwood, Ga. on 01/03/207 .
What do you think ??? -
good luck man . you made a good desicion. you should be pretty happy with it. keep us informed.

My husband works for Roehl and is about to become a trainer with them. He is very happy with them. I have nothing but good to say about them. They get hubby home when they say they will. He has been getting decent miles. This time of year things slow down which is understandable but still they beat what JBH and NFI had given him. Good Luck with them. I think you will be happy.

I have been driving for Roehl since Aug. of this year. They are definitly one of the better companies out there.I think you made a good decision,in signing on with them.Dont expect everything to be rosy all the time.No matter who you are with you will have some dissapointing trips.I am on their 7 on 7 off program, and just finished up a very bad week. Not their fault.but the fault of the customers, darned grocery warehouses. Most weeks go pretty good for me out on the road.Roehl pretty much tells you up front what life is gonna be like on the road. They dont keep me waiting for my next load,I am usually dispatched within 15 or 20 min.after sending in my MT call. That is much better than most companies.I dont know how you will make out as an inexperienced driver, but I would imagine it will be pretty good.Their oreintation for experienced drivers was a right to the point ,no BS,couple of days.Good luck to you on your new venture, and remember that your work ethics and attitude have a lot to do with how your trucking career goes.

I posted this question in another thread, so sorry if this is repetitive. My husband leaves for school with Roehl in Feb. We live in Central FL. We are wondering about parking for the truck when he is home. The recruiter told him due to location, he would have the trailer about 50% of the time. He can't park the truck (let alone the trailer) at home. When my brother-in-law drove OTR, his co. had a deal with Kenworth (?) that they could park there securely. The recruiter says they don't have an agreement like that, just that the truck/trailer is his responsibility. Understood, but don't really know what to do. There is only 1 truck stop that we know of within about 20 miles, and I don't know that they would classify as "secure" (or we would consider it as such, just knowing the location). We see a lot of trucks parked in parking lots around here, but assume someone is in the truck sleeping. My husband didn't seem to get much advice on what to do so we don't know what we should be prepared for. Thanks in advance . . .

CPG,my situation is different now with Roehl.I drive 7 days then go home 7 days.I take the truck to a drop yard and another driver uses it while I am home.when I drove full time I had room to park the truck at home.I parked the trailer at a nearby truckstop with their permission.I always locked the trl.up.Another solution is to ck.around at busnisses that have a large lot, they will sometimes ley you park there. As for the truck stops,if they let you leave the trl.there they will also let you leave the truck there too.Hope this helps.
