Pretty much Mississippi was the cheapest state and then after that, it was all the rural states with all the east coast, Texas, and the west coast being the highest. -
My first year with Progressive was $13,200 for truck and trailer, $1m. coverages, $100,000 cargo. Truck value at $60k, Trailer value at $20k. Based in AZ.
Just got my renewal for the second year, $9,900. Excellent driving record, excellent credit, and financial experience owning multiple businesses probably helps. I'm under 40.
Yes being a new entrant is a big piece of the puzzle, but there are other factors that go into your premium rate which can also have a large affect.Willmann30 and Lite bug Thank this. -
Xray4 Thanks this.

My policy is in the renewal phase now and waiting on them to give me my renewal quote.. My bet is Progressive is pulling shady #### jacking the price at the end of the policy so they can just drop back to where it was and claim I'm getting a great discount going into my 3rd year. -

FL my 1st year was the $12k/year but MO for the exact same policy with Progressive via my agent it was $8k/year.
$4k cheaper just because of not being in a high premium state. I did try to set up in MO 1st because of the rates but MO is kinda strict on what they require because they don't want people living in FL and setting up in MO just to get cheaper insurance so I had to have either a house as my primary address or an office in MO but if I had an office I had to have business hours posted with someone there. Added to this would have meant a few trips to MO to get stuff set up so it was cheaper just to pay the extra $4k in FL..
I used to have a list from Progressive with the average 1st year insurance rate for new authorities for all the lower 48. Everything on the East and West coasts were all high but also Texas, IL, Mi ect were all high. Believe it or not Mississippi was the cheapest on the list with the average cost of insurance being under $3k/year.
It was way under all the other states most of the rural western states (west of Mississippi river) were all good rates but MS its self was insanely low. Not sure why maybe they require less coverage or something.Last edited: Sep 3, 2021

[UOTE="crocky, post: 11548308, member: 200207"]Its because of FL and east coast. I have an LLC in Missouri but live in FL. My 1st year when getting insurance quotes to start up I got a quote for FL and with the same company in MO.

Ya i tried to give them a different garaging zip code than my home and business address, a zip code outside the metro area and it had 10% lower premiums. They adjusted it after 30 days saying the underwriter looked at Google maps and determined i can't get a trailer into the address I provided and they reverted to my business address. I argued, and they didn't care.
Oh well.crocky Thanks this. -
