If i want to pay for a parking spot, why does it bother so many other people?

I would guess that you paying for parking in itself doesn’t bother anyone

I think the real issue comes down to when more and more just pay up to park then it will be the norm at all Truckstops and every night

Sorta like the guy who take cheap freak guy to cover fuel

    It all adds up
    $15 x 30 is $459
Parking where most live is another monthly fee

I’ve posted it several times that if I buy most of my fuel at X brand then I feel I’m their customer and should get parking and a shower
If I buy zero fuel from Y company then I’m good with paying to park as I’m not their customer

I use my Pilot/Flying J points on the rare times that I use a reserved space, which is pretty much exactly that. I think I paid cash to park exactly once, and it was only $10, and they had great BBQ.

When T/S started giving the mega companies HUGE discounts on fuel, they had to make up the profits lost by charging extra for EVERYTHING...Coffee..Fax..Showers...Air for tires..ect. ect. ect.

I only paid for parking 3 times ever long ago,,The Detroiter? TA Nashville and the truck stop in New Orleans….I forget why the Detroiter but Nashville and New Orleans were for having a big ol’ time Back then it was not difficult to find parking provided you could steer your unit in reverse,,,,somewhat of a lost art as I see in many videos today:)

    I might be wrong
But isn’t it the Detroiter that’s fenced in and all of it is paid parking?

You are correct, ,normally I would have parked under the Ambassador bridge on the way home so breakfast would only be a few steps across the road to diner

I never really understood why people get all pissy over drivers who pay for parking. The vast majority of truck stops that have reserved parking only have a handful of spots that are reserved, and most are free. So why give a crap if some people are willing to pay? Do these same people get mad at a driver in a restaurant eating a steak when they can only afford a bowl of soup?

That's mostly true. But some areas. Like MD. The majority of spots are paid parking. Not just the TA. They know drivers will pay. Because they have no choice.

Now I normally don't pay for parking. Unless I know I will be driving late and won't get a spot. Probably once every two months.

Yeah I'm the same way. I only pay when I know I will be arriving near dark and spots will be at a premium. I know there are a few states where it's difficult to find a spot at any time. The last time I was in Illinois I swore never again. Not many truck stops, no off ramp parking, not a good place to be a driver.
