Anybody in here know if there is a separate sensor for HIGH coolant temp from the regular coolant temp sensor? High temp warning comes on sporadically sometimes at 190°, sometimes at 205°. Hell, it came on the day just idling at a customer at 180°. Already changed the sensor on the front of the thermostat housing but didn't solve it. Maybe changed the wrong sensor? Any help would be appreciated.

Probably have two sensors. One for the gauge another for ecm.

P/N for switch for high temperature switch is Q27-6000-225. It is in port 34 in this screenshot.

Port 12 is sending unit for gauge. Which did you replace?

Don't feel bad. You changed the easier one to access. Make sure you come back and update everyone on how "easy" it was to change the sensor!

    spsauerland Thanks this.

Really wasn't bad. Mechanic had it done in 15 minutes. Drained about 5 gallons of coolant, grabbed a deep well socket and boom! Done.

Had an 05 379 with Acert that I never could keep the temp gauge from running amuck. Replaced both sending units- one for gauge and one for ecm. Replaced gauge with new. Worked ok for a few days then back to showing hot all the time vs checking with temp gun or ecm. Finally bought a Scangauge D to monitor what ecm was reading and problem circumvented. Scangauge D is a pretty handy item.
