A friend of mine, Dod prefers Giesels, managed to load 13' 10" in Cali, going to Michigan. Well, he kept meaning to check his load height for posterity, even though he knew it was under 13' 6"...
So he finally decides to measure it in Kingdom City, MO. Wow, was that ####### wrong!!
Now one could argue the load is divisible. He told me he's decided to run it anyway. (Dude is such a F'n outlaw)
If he were to get back on:
70 in Kingdom City
270 around STL
465 around Indianapolis
69 to 469 around Ft. Wayne
24 to 475 around Perrysburg
And then 75 through Detroit
Would my friend have any issues with a low overpass? He has already checked his route in the atlas. However these states are 13' 6" max, so anything higher than that isn't listed as "low". So there's a four inch gray area.
I told him the one time you drop the ball is when you end up getting caught with your pants down. I'm just glad I'm not in his shoes right now!

Be careful with Detroit I believe there’s a 1310 there.

I have absolutely no clue about whether this app would be of any use. Just thought it might be of interest

I'm not terribly worried about the cops, because it's the weekend, it's a holiday, and it's been raining since 3am and hasn't stopped yet in the last 400 miles.
But what I am worried about is making a bad situation even worse by actually hitting something. I mean I'm vigilant (generally), but I'm also not used to being so high. All it takes is one lapse in attention to end up in the Hall of Shame. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.cke, Nostalgic and stuckinthemud Thank this. -
Check the routing for a high route on the states permit sites.
Holiday weekend, most scales will be closed. Most bypass belt lines have higher clearance than the old highways thru the larger cities.
Michigan would be my concern.
I have lowered my trailer ride height on some loads to make it legal height. Depends on where the load measures tall.
Most states allow issue of permits 24/7, Easy and quick to set up. This load doesn't sound to much oversize and should be easy to get permits online.God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
