At least out there the overpasses tend to be taller than back east. An inch or 2 taller than 13'6 wouldn't worry me as much as 4 extra. Bet he won't make that mistake again ;)

With the high 5th wheel and tall 24.5s on the 99 were about 13'8.5 at the front of the wagon but we run the same area so it's a bit different than not knowing an area

GPD, hope it is a routine trip between point A to point B. Bet your friend is very attentive to the above details in the future...
Is front of load higher than rear? If so, dump air suspension if you question an overhead. I expect to be trashed for this recommendation. Better than a close encounter.
    Best wishes, :occasion5:

Edit... while I was typing SLOWLY with one finger, the above suspension adjustments already discussed.

You're correct about the divisible load. But Having a permit is better than no permit. At least you know where to drive and not have a problem.
At the least look at permit sites and check the route. I don't think you will have a problem along the interstates. I don't run Michigan often with oversize anymore.
When I did, it was 14'6 tall and got routed all over the place.
    Good luck

What pisses him off the most, is he'd measured every high load so far. Why not this time? I don't even want to tell you the idiotic reason, because it's the equivalent of filling your rig up with gasoline, even when you know better.

If you stay on 75 you'll be fine there's nothing under 14' just don't get on 94 though there's a few 13'8" and 13'9" on 94 in the metro area.

Oh yeah, and don't get caught outlaw.

I'll keep my tanks full, so I can out range the Po Po if they try to pull me over. Plus I don't think they can catch me since my truck is turbocharged. I'm not sure why I'm even worried. I mean hell, I pay their salaries!

I am an old car hauler, 13,10, is common. Stop at a home depot, get some plastic pipe and make a measuring stick

I’d shoot for a permit if it’s not too pricey I’m not a flatbed guy tho (if only for the routing)
I wish I could help man, I know MO is pretty good about stuff being around 14ft
