Being careful and paranoid are two different things. I gave the OP an honest answer, if you don’t like it too bad. -
The problem is that this type of loss is hard to recover. Normally, a victim would receive an insurance money and then buy another trailer but you won't find a replacement these days. Maybe for a fleet with 30+ trailer, they could manage but for a solo o/o it is a kill. I know now why in the old days, they were hanging horse thieves on the spot. I would not mind seeing it now.larry2903, TripleSix, Midwest Trucker and 3 others Thank this. -

It’s still truck driving, not brain surgery.
A little common sense and due diligence goes a long way, but keep it up with the paranoid fear it’s a good look. -
Talk to the shop people, not the store cashiers. They can care less about truck drivers. I've has multiple occasions where I pick up about 3 hours from the house and sometimes drop my trailer at a Pilot and PC home if I have time. The shop guys let me drop it with the oil change and repair trucks. I'll put my lock on the king pin and they put a maintenance tag on the front of it. If you went in and asked a cashier to do the same, they'd just stand there like a deer in the headlights having no clue what you're asking.
