Trying something new with my bottom step. Bracket is all sagged and cracked so we are going build a new bracket to raise it up and also make it stronger. Use a piece of angle iron to bolt to the old bracket with a 2 inch square tube for a spacer in between. Should put the bottom step touching the bottom of the battery box while keeping the same amount sticking out away from the truck. The other idea was to put the angle iron directly onto the bottom of the box sans the spacer and set the bottom step butted up against the box. That would have ended up setting about 3 inches further out from the truck.
I'll get pics of the new setup tomorrow when I test fit it on the truck. But here's the before with the sag in it.
This here doodle should give a clearer idea of what I'm doing, orange being the spacer, red the angle iron, and white the original steps.
