The engine always runs, that's not the problem. It always starts and runs. It just doesn't RELIABLEY function. Multiple fuse boxes replaced, They even replaced the hvac box under the bunk once. wiring issues, but I think it has never had an issue with the actual engine even after they first installed it using the wrong fuel lines.

I thought I did, but you are right, my apologies. I looked at their website before i posted that and thought I was reading about yet another battery apu. Their website sucks. I'm still not sure what I'm looking at but doesn't matter, I'm not shopping for an APU anyway.

Well guys I bit the bullet and got my green apu installed. Installation was great the guys in ft worth did a great job, but off the bat there are some things I need to see how I can improve on this system. I looked into getting an apu to get a better nights sleep and let me tell you this thing is LOUD. If I could compare it, its like sleeping with a reefer on. The exhaust itself is pretty small so maybe there’s a fix for that. There’s no auto on and off like the thermoking so its always running using up the warranty hours. It would be a great “update” if possible in the future. The BTUs are questionable on a hot (85+) degree day, will have to test that in the summer. Also there’s a audible click under the bunk every time the units ac compressor kicks. Out of all the apus to choose from, the Freon needed for this unit is 1.7 lbs while the hp2000 are 1.8 and thermokings are 1.8-2.0 not sure if that makes a difference but its open for discussion . The control panel does look like something from 2 decades ago but it seems reliable.

    Now the pros..
This thing does have a lot of potential with it being the only 3 cylinder apu that I know of. Parts seem of great quality. Air flow is great, the control panel is basic but functional. They have a good network of places to service them and also that do the installs. It does what it was designed to do, but there is a bit of room for improvement.

Now that Justrucking installed his ill have to see his review on it .

26,000 BTU's is questionable??? That seems like a lot. In particular a TriPac AC is like 12,000. It has Kubota engine. So the filters and parts should be way more common.

I was reading around the forums of drivers being comfortably cool in 95 degree weather with a tripack, youd think a greenapu having more than double would top that. But i had it on full in 68 degree weather and it kinda kept it cool. Ill be rearranging the vents to the corners of the sleeper instead of under the bunk to get more airflow on top to see if that helps. In short my expectations were pretty high but its still getting broken in so we’ll see

Any updates on your Green APU? How’s it working for you in this cold weather?

I am surprised to hear problems as l read it was developed by a trucking company tired of other brand APU failures. I like the specs and how many parts can be found at local car parts places, for instance the A/C compressor and condenser l read are standard Honda Civic parts.

Anyway no affiliation here but they are also offering a $500 discount if you are an OOIDA Member.
