The job is what you make it. For the most part I like it and it has provided a very good life for my family but there are days I wonder why I'm doing this lol.

I did beer for 4 years before this and it was a nightmare also. Food just pays twice as much so it's easier to pallet the bad taste.

Good to know our pickers aren't the only ones who struggle with stacking. We're short on drivers but absolutely dying for people in the warehouse. The turnover there is unreal {part of why the pallets are built so badly is no one sticks around long enough to get good at it).
We're getting hit from upstream as well, having a terrible time getting product in the door between product shortages and trouble getting it moved. If everybody else wasn't in the same boat we'd be losing customers like crazy.
I know McLane grocery in my area is desperately short of drivers. The Loves I stop at regularly has lots of empty shelves, their McLane trucks that are supposed to be twice a week are showing up once every 2-3 weeks and usually with only part of their order.

The key thing that Coke and Pepsi have been doing is using new smaller pallets and custom small pallet jacks, so a small order doesn’t take up an entire full sized pallet space. But that still doesn’t solve the issue of crackheads in the warehouse being responsible for accurately picking the orders and building the pallets.

I can answer part of this….. my sons works out of So.Cal area. His biggest issue is the warehousing, they load/stock the boxes backwards, when they get to there delivery, they have to breakdown the whole pallet to get that particular stop commodity. Not to mentioned also, that particular delivery orders are in front or middle of the trailer, so you have 2 strikes, one, you have to move half of your load to get to that pallet, 2nd, that order is on the bottom of that particular pallet you just had to dig out. So…. imagine doing this through out the early weee hours of the morning and through out the day. Forgot to mention, if your delivery is on the 20th floor in a major city….. hmmmm…. go figure, must be fun, NOT…. Only positive thing about all this, is the money he get at the end of the week. Lots of overtime and double time. That’s why he is still there after 11 years. You can’t beat the benefits also. “Teamsters” still taking care of them.

Yes those RD pallets (rapid delivery) are nice. Our guys were pretty good and it would only be a case or two out of place every now and then. I would just cut whatever was missing off the invoice and move on.

"Hey we didn't order all this olive order" AFTER I HAD BROUGHT IT ALL DOWNSTAIRS

[IMG] First time I ever saw a pallet fall down from only the bottom half

[IMG] Truck so full the jack wouldn't fit inside of it
