Wife is getting Doubles/Triples, Tanker and Hazmat.
She is going to get her fingerprints done on Monday.

Can she take the Hazmat test on Tuesday or does she need to wait for the background to come back?

the way i recall it to be, you could get the hazmat test before the background check.

now, i think you need that TSA(??) letter before you can go take the test.

Not all the states are the same.
When I was in Texas, I did the test, then the fingerprinting/background check. When it came back they mailed my new license.
Here in Arkansas, you do the fingerprinting/background check first. When it comes back you go in to the State Trooper office and do the test. Then go to the drivers license office and they will hand you your license on the spot.

You can take the test. The fingerprint check is to see if you are qualified for the hazmat endorsement. If you pass the test but say there is something in your background that disqualifies you. You don't get the endorsement. In PA I took the test passed & they gave me a letter stating what I was being fingerprinted for & went to a third party site to have it done.
Had I known I would have waited for my twic to come back(apply for that first took 21 days to get it). I wouldn't have had to do the fingerprints for pa for hazmat.

Here in CA you can take the Hazmat before the back ground, she should also get the TSA card while shes getting the hazmat, not a bad idea to take all the endorsements, including passenger, There are driving jobs like delivering buses that require the passenger, even though the bus will be empty while your delivering it.
Might as well do it all. Same cost here.

    Trucker61016 Thanks this.

We are debating getting the TWIC card. We don't need it now but you never know. She used to drive a bus so she has passengers.

TWIC is handy if u do ports . go to a port without a twic and u need to pay for an escort... Twic card is 75 dollars and good for 5 years. They take your fingerprints and now ur on file with the govt. But i was reading a thread couple days ago on here that it can be used to get thru the airport .

You can link your twic and hazmat together at least here in Cali, then your twic will run concurret with your hazmat. I have had a TWIC card for a number of years, the only times I get ask is entering military base's and business ( Adam's Steel & the Fed Prison) on Terminal Island in Long Beach Harbor.
Honestly most drivers have little use for the TWIC card overall. If you driving for someone and they require it let them pay for it. Mine was paid for by Pepsi / New Bern Transportation. Never used it there.

As mentioned. Depends on the state. Apparently.

My fingerprints are in the middle of my 5 year license. So every 2 1/2 years I'm either testing or fingers.

Next year is the test. I'll be getting rid of the endorsement.
