In my Alliant days out of the omaha DC some of our peddle trailers came down from Eagan MN....they were disasters that would take all day because ya had to pick thru everything.
    I didn't stick around long !

Shorter routes and let the drivers load? When I worked at Airgas my trailer was preloaded but still punched in an hour early to set myself up for the day. Makes a big difference. People that load have no clue about the stop or the product for the customer. I’m preeching to the choir to all you foodservice guys. I’m just a lazy line haul driver but if there was a food service company close to me I would most likely go for it.

Loaders have nothing to do with it; a lot of the time it's the mappers fault. They're just following directions - it's not their job to do it differently. Of course, sometimes one of them bothers to use their brain and actually puts it more decent than the ####ed up mapping would've had it.

The picking is what's the biggest issue here in food service IMO. Or sometimes what stops are mapped on what pallet. Why have a 60 case pallet that's stops 3-6 and then the next one is 6-8

Just ####ing make it 65 cases and 3-6 and the next one 7-8. I know sometimes there's a cube issue but still.

I know a lot of guys who did exactly that. Back the trailer to a door and move some pallets around to make things easier. But it’s not always an option. Some have strict management and some people work out of drop yards where whatever you get is what you have to work with.

Straps aren’t necessary at the front of the trailer, right?

Sorry boss, we couldn’t find any straps to use on that pallet.

Should we load this on a bigger trailer? Nah, let’s just stack two pallets worth of crap for the third stop on the tail behind the first two stops.

More throwing #### on the tail, so haphazardly that it fell out upon opening the door.

Guys, don’t push the pallets all the way forward, the driver doesn’t need that much space.

Let’s stack a couple dozen cases of milk on top of all this chicken. What could go wrong?

I applied to every local food delivery job and heard nothing. Completely clean driving record, Class A but only 2 months experience. They want only experienced drivers. I haven't been able to get a job and will probably have to go back OTR when I do not plan on being an OTR driver, just to get a linehaul,/LTL type of position that I really want. This industry messed up badly and there's a reason why there's a driver shortage.
