That's who it is. And they're governed at 75. Covering over 700 miles in a day is not hard at all. Push a little and depending where you go you can tease 4000 miles a week.

I thought I would chime in since I ve been extremely busy training students the last few months. I signed off on my last student yesterday. He picked up his truck from KW in Williston, and will do his final eval tomorrow before doing the dedicated run in Anniston.
The miles have been plentiful for me the last 2 years. Some of the things that S and S desperately needs to work on is communication. There s nothing worse than getting to a customer, and not being told what needs to happen before you get there. Sometimes there may not be a place nearby to get a washout or X amount of straps, load locks, etc. Thankfully, I carry plenty of straps and 6 load locks. Sometimes it may be over an hour to the closest place to get a washout. The last place you got unloaded may have a washout place a few blocks or few miles away. That way you can take care of it before you get to next load.
Lately, they are focusing more on training new drivers. The biggest problem with it is trying to get so many to come aboard with few trainers. I don t get the concept of having them come to Grand Forks, and wait for a trainer for a week or two. Some students get lucky as a trainer may come through Grand Forks, and get on their truck. It would be much better if they communicated in advance, and let the trainers know who s coming aboard and when. Nothing worse than stocking your truck, and have to reconfigure to accommodate a student. These Cascadias dont have much space as it is. If I had a T680 or a Volvo, it wouldn t be an issue.
For those reading this and wondering what are the minimum qualifications to be on trainers trucks: Its a minimum requirement of 10,500 miles or around 180-200 hours of on duty and driving. Depending on your trainer, and how efficient he or she is, 10,500 may take 3 to 4 weeks. Currently, my last 2 students were on my truck an average of 3.5 weeks. And no we do not run team training.

Long time no talk lol.
Hope all is well for you out there.
After dealing with the awful manager at Syfan, I guess you could say I went out with a bang.
She tried to make me do a random 6 hours into my 10 hour break, and well, no. No I wouldn't. I was going on 4 hours of sleep and had a barn being delivered.
It was that moment that I realized that I'm just done with trucking and these awful companies that have zero respect for their drivers. I do not work to have a company own me 24/7. I get that spending literally half your life working in this industry is standard, but ill be darned if they own me on my off time too.
So I told her exactly what I thought of her and that little stunt, and I'm enjoying the next three weeks off until I start my Masters Program. Been talking to a few hospitals, and may have a good chance at working for the State of Alabama in their Forensic Pathology division.
I'll always have great memories of something I wanted to do my entire life, I came, I saw, I conquered. I can back a 53' into the hole the size of a crickets ###.
Yall be safe out there, keep the dirty side down, and thank you for being such great conversation along the way! I'll always tip my hat to my brothers and sisters of the road.Dennixx, SwervinMervin, Just passing by and 12 others Thank this. -

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Its been a minute since I ve posted on here. Had a string of bad luck with my truck. I was in the shop a total of 5 times within a month with various issues. Finally, all the bugs are finally worked out. Once things were back to normal, I got backed into again which will require a second trip to body shop. I think I need to avoid driving red trucks period.
As far as what has happened with S and S since I last posted, our trucks finally got turned up to 70 on cruise and 66 pedal. Passmart is pretty much useless since its only 71mph now. We also got a 3 cent pay raise, guaranteed 2500 mile pay, and paid time off if you stay out longer than normal. Also, holiday pay and reimbursement of reserved parking up to $100 if you meet the minimum monthly mileage.
We are going to Freightliner and a Volvo truck company now. So once the KWs hit trade cylce, they will no longer be in the fleet. Some of those KWs spent more time in the shop than on the road. I ve rescued 3 of them this year, and picked up a few drivers from the dealers.
I will try to post more when I have more downtime
