Not sure about Garrison, but i would like to know more. I just got an email about the Glendale Gang stealing the identity of a real broker (who is 100% real) and booking trucks with a fake Gmail and their MC#. They are scamming for fuel advances and detention.

    Hi All,
I'm a new broker in the Greater LA area (Redondo Beach). Unfortunately, I have area codes of 310 and 424 for direct and fax respectively. How can I get the list of MC's you all referenced in another thread? My company is legit and understand that double brokering is illegal. We want to make sure we don't get scammed by the Glendale group. I'll follow the advice of having the MC# image sent by our shipper to make sure there is a match or no load. It sounds like it's best not to post my broker loads to load boards? Shall I save the money of paying for DAT Power then and just email/phone potential carriers when I have loads?

DO you have Carrier411? You're gonna need it, the FG reports alone are worth it, but the ability to look up phone numbers, email addresses, etc is invaluable in combatting the scammers. Once you know the pattern to look for you'll be able to spot them a mile away.

You won’t stand a chance without being on DAT. It’s a must.

Ok good to know! Let me know if I'm investing wisely with this combo of tools: DAT Power, Rateview and Carrier 411, Ascend TMS. I have a robust CRM for marketing.

Issue is we ask for laws to be passed to curtail this behavior but most here say no new regulations.

simple fix is carrier must be able to contact shipper and verify who should be on their load, a broker must disclose to shipper who’s picking up.

That is the Only way to get the double brokers out. Also it’s not only the Armenian’s, I’ve seen evidence of the good ole boys in mid west do it and the brothers down south.

It’s money to be made by I’ll gotten gains then people will do it.

I've only found two agents with any type of ethics north of The Mason Dixon.

There is a difference between good ol boys double brokering who intend for all to go well and everyone be paid, and those were talking about that is blatant intended fraud. One is a gray area and one is total fraud.

Also, I always tell my customers which carrier signage and mc to look for on the door. No problems there.
