1999 ISMV in a 1993 375 Pete. Cranks over good, but no fire. No smoke from stack.
Key w/push button starter.
Fresh fuel
All fuses appear good
How do I check electronic fuel shut off is working proper.
Engine will run on starting fluid, but hate to keep using it.
Ran about 2 months ago.
1993 Peterbilt 375 won’t start, help troubleshoot the problem.

Use a test light to see if you're getting voltage to it with the key on. Even though it only has one wire, verify that it has a good ground through the case. Sometimes you can put a strong magnet on the back of the shutoff solenoid and get it to start.

I don’t have my test light with me today. I cracked loose(actually took all the way off) the fuel line from on top the pump, going into the side of the engine( that’s were I unhooked it) turned the key, and hit button, all kinds of fuel comes pumping out. I think the solenoid is good?
Re-attached, hit the button, cranks over good by no fire. -
Did those have ECM fuses in the battery box?

There is a 60 amp fuse in the battery box, switched that just to be sure, there are a couple 15 amp in line fuses near the rear of the engine. All fuses appear good in the fuse box.

Check the multiple ECM fuse wiring from the battery and check your grounds, I think there is three.

Yes there are 3 wires coming in, in a harness, all 3 should connect to positive battery posts?

99 engine in a 93? Sounds like a Frankenstein. Does it have a check and shutdown engine lights?
Magoo1968 Thanks this. -
It has the whole bank of lights up above the sun visor.
It definitely is a replacement engine, different paint on the engine, mounting bolts, brackets, etc.
This is the same truck that has a shifter of a 13 sp, but the numbers on the trans indicate it’s a 6-10 RoadRanger. -
Slight correction, the lights on the dash above the gauges, not the visor.
The check engine light, and stop engine comes on with the key, when the white wire with black stripe is hooked to a negative battery terminal. Neither will light up if unhooked.
