I did 17 to 89 to 160 to 191 then i 70. Only tough spots were Vail Pass, the climb to the Eisenhower tunnel and the hump right before you roll down into Denver. took a total of 16 hours of driving.

I saw several different routes; one went through Payson then to Holbrook and I40 to 25 north, the other was 60 to 77 to Holbrook then 40 to 25, then the route you suggested but I was trying to avoid, maybe I should have put that in the op

I am nothing but a steering wheel holder, just like everyone else that has a computer geek from silicon valley work the clutch and shift the gears for them

Yeah, well, the route I suggested will take you over US 550 Coal Bank/Molas/Red Mountain passes, as well as US 50 Cero and Blue Mesa Summit and Monarch Pass and US 285 Poncha Pass, Trout Creek Pass, Kenosha Pass, Red Hill Pass as well as Turkey Creek Canyon. By the time you hit Denver, you'll more mountain exp. than most drivers, you'll have survived, assuming, some of the worst passes in Colorado, your truck will absolutely hate you, and you'll either be raring to go, or ready to hang up the keysalds, I like manuals and Hammer166 Thank this.

yeah, I saw that route on google maps and thought better of. I used to live in Leadville, it's bad driving a pickup truck back there let alone a semi.alds Thanks this.

Depends on whether you want fast with lots of places to stop (i17 -> i40 -> i25) or scenic driving with low traffic, few stops, have extra time, and don't mind some big hills (i17 -> i89 -> 160 -> 191 -> i70)
Personally I prefer the 2nd route. But it's not that good if you're heavy since 160 and 191 have a lot of hills, and of course there's i70.I like manuals Thanks this. -
