That is fine ..............until the mom wanted the reward
jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
I've caught my kids shoplifting. But I didn't do nothing until after we checked out. Then I'd ask the cashier to call the manager over. I'd then told the manager to search my child because I had believed they were attempting to shoplift.
Ducks, Texas-Nana and tonkatruck Thank this. -
When I was about twelve my dad caught me sneaking a cookie out of one of the fancy type cookies that you can re-close the package
I had to turn my self in to the store manager
Pay for the cookies, then throw the rest of them away
And I was grounded for 6 months
It worked
I never got caught again (very fast runner LOL)
I think this lady should be a parent not a guardian
Come on lady the kid is only 6
tonkatruck Thanks this. -
We lived just outside of Carrollton when we lived in OH. My MIL still lives up there. The local news reported that this was not the first time the little girl had done this. Her moms punishment wasn't working, so she took this route hoping it worked. I don't think she went too far considering what happened in the past. Now, trying to collect the reward, that's too much!

I totally agree with the mother on this. I would have made sure the kid was cuffed, finger printed and the whole works and made to sit in a jail cell for a few hours with only the walls to look at.
As for the reward thing. I would have jokingly asked about it but only as a joke.
I got caught shop lifting my my mother when I was young. Spent 5 hours at the cop shop in a cell crying my eyes out. When I got out I was punished at home also and never did it again. Had to sit on a pillow for a few hours though.
Like I always say, there is nothing wrong with spankings etc as long as love is also dished out to the child. -
At age 4 I stole a piece of bubble gum from the Handy Andy grocery store. (My older brothers told me it was there for me to take........yes I believe them always)
My mother saw me chewing the gum and when asked I of course told her where I got it.
49 years later I can still describe every moment, every image of that long walk back into the store, across the front and up to the manager's booth where I had to confess to the manager.
I never stole anything ever again.
I think calling the police and having the child driven to jail was a bit over the top. -
nope not too far...this is a woman who is taking her parenting job SERIOUSLY....if its not stopped now,,cant imagine what it could lead to later in life....Congrats to the mom..

I believe she handled it perfectly, betcha the little girl won't ever do it again. Its either the police or the spanking and in OH DFS is nutty. Just saying bad girl don't do that doesn't work. Thats why we have so many bad kids these days.

Its sad a parent would use fear of the authorities to reign in their child
Two ways of raising a child
One: is fear of consequences, only doing whats right because fear of being caught
Two: doing whats right because of being raised by a good example, understanding there are things a person wont do because its wrong
Being raised with a good conscience
By calling the cops the mother is giving over the child's raising to the government one small bit at a time
Bit by bit we work our selves into understanding how the people can be controlled by socialismtinytim and Texas-Nana Thank this.
