    Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and still in school for trucking. I'll graduate in Feb. and would like any info you'd care to share on how to deal with these trucking companies and who to talk with. I'm right now looking at C.R.S.T., Roehl, and KLLM. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Read through the post for awhile. You're going to find a lot of negative...so take the time to sort through it.

Much of what you read will have a bit of truth to it. Some will be completely unbelievable...although bearing some truth as well.

We have a section for company rants and raves here: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/trucking-company-dac-reports/....dig through it for awhile. Then post your questions as they arise.

Thanks for the info. Been scouring the boards trying to find all I can, since I'm totally green in this industry. Like you said, I see pro and con on alot and try to sift through it all. Talked to a few and I'm being told to call closer to graduation. That's fine. But, any tips on how to deal with the recruiters would be greatly appreciated. Big difference between this and the trades. lol. Thx. again

Live, treat recruiters like used car salesmen they're going to tell you what you want to hear.

If I had listened to the first (and only) driving school recruiter I talked to, right now I'd be livin' large on $45-$50k/yr, in my own truck, idling to my heart's content..........Aaaaaaah! :)sign5:, got back up, then :sign5: again, then......)

Sorry to hear that. are you sure you didn't make the right decision? Most that I hear from are saying that isn't the way to go till you have some experience in the industry under your belt. Now you have me thinking. Have you graduated school? are you working?if so, with who? are you making any money at it if you're working? I know, I'm getting a bit personal. just answer what you'd like.
    All the best to ya.

Believe me, my young friend, the post was absolutely tongue-in-cheek!
As my profile says, I'm a wannabe. No school till next summer. I was just poking a little fun at the "lyin' bunch of recruiters" thing. But I truly appreciate your concern and wish you nothing but the best as your career unfolds!

So my advice when I taught Mod 1 # NETTS on weekends was this
:biggrin_25524:look ahead and determine your own future.
What willl probably most determine your success is the amount of hometime you can get from whoever you hire on with.
Go to the busiest Interstate Hiway in the area and watch who is driving past, note the company names, type of trailer and then do your homework. Trucking companies usually have major traffic lanes they travel and you want the ones that are rolling those traffic lanes near your hometown. Being in NH is a benefit, cause you can leave a ol beater/vehicle in the truck yard to commute when you're off, or just find safe truck parking for when you can swing by the house. ( A favorite thing to do!)
In certain seasons, there will be greater traffic for some companies, but it is a starting point.
Hit the 'net, go to the Truckstops and research every detail you can think of.
THEN make contact and ensure whick of the companies you're interested in will use you- even if you have to team up. Get yourself prehired even before you're finished school!
Truckers like to stay ahead of the game!
Use your Noggin- just banging docks and shifting gears don't a trucker make.
    Good Luck!
