Don't know why this thread went quiet. Guess from what I've seen on other threads, job hopping and not giving notice still seems to be a hotly debated topic. I'd say if one is in a larger city with a plethora of job opportunities, go nuts.

I feel I'm kind of stuck at my current gig only due to the other jobs in the area being "local revolving doors". The same people, drivers or dispatch, will stay for a few years, disappear to another company down the road, and then return a few years later. That and while the jobs are plentiful in other cities, the housing/apartment thing is still an issue. So a relocation followed by a silent exit wouldn't be so silent. Especially when co-workers and dispatch live in the same area of town as you do.

The way I look at it is simple.
The company and myself have a renewable contract.
I come to work, they have work for me to do.
They pay me for my time and labor and I do an honest days work in exchange for that pay.
    Contract fulfilled.
Next day it can be renewed unless one party decides differently.
It's just a business arrangement, nothing more. Neither side owes the other anything outside of that.
You may feel obligated to a good manager or owner. I have. But you should never feel obligated to a company.
