"Some" truckers oppose letting Mexican trucks on U.S. roads?
It would seem to me that the only truckers who don't oppose this are the Mexican truckers themselves!

Well, I'm no Mexican, but I think some compatition is exactly what this industry needs to get back to the way it was. I have been an O/O for awhile now, and I have to say honestly the quality of "Drivers" has gone way down. To have the ability to job hop here and there has ruined drivers. They have become such "professionals" at what they do, and are to be held in the highest reguards, That they cant change a tire when it blows, they cant greese their trucks, adjust their brakes, or pretty much anything else other than hold their steering wheels. Now, of course, I'm not talking about everybody who drives a truck, but I'd venture to say I'm covering about 90%. Fact is.. As an O/O I would come closer to highering a Mexican for obvious reasons. As a American Trucker, I myself wouldnt have to worry about my Job, because I have the know how, and the grit to compete with these people who threaten so many. But to those who do feel threatened, I have the remedy!! "Do a better job"! The trucking industry hasnt changed, Just the people behind the wheels. Trucking works on one basic principle, always has, always will......The more you move, the faster you move it, The more you make! Its about the money, not home time, not saftey, not the driver, but money. Just think about it...What kind of driver would you hire? Now, be that driver, and you got nothing to worry about. 2 months back I was talking with a friend and told him I was thinking about selling my truck. Within a week, 1 week, I got 4 different calls. I didnt call one person, didnt fill out one app. People are watching you!! Question is, what are they seeing? A driver they want, or a driver they want to stay clear of?? Guess that falls in your lap.

this kind of stuff would never fly if the media would do their jobs and report it to the american public instead of trying to make people feel like a racist because they are against competing with mexican trucks in their own country if they(media)would report on it like they should they would find support very hard to come by in america...nothing good can come out of a goverment that thinks so little of its own people...:withstupid:<<<united states goverment!!!

There's simply no way around the Law of Supply & Demand: Whenever the supply of anything -- be it Federal Reserve notes, '55 Chevies, oil, corn, whatever -- is increased, its value or price can only decrease. As happened in the technical fields in the late 90s & early 2000s, when any labor pool is flooded with cheap foreign labor, wages drop drastically, while American workers are displaced. This is exactly the same in any trade or field, whether it's engineering, progamming, or professional driving. Each & every position that is held by a foreigner is no longer available to an American, & wherever there's a surplus of applicants, the prevailing wages are greatly reduced -- each & every time. It's that simple...!

Send a copy of this to the government, maybe they could figure out how to get the fuel prices down alittle.....but I doubt it.

It would seem the Mexican truckers might try to undercut American trucking prices and take away work from us which would be a real bad thing in this economy.

I've heard this alot...But they cant afford to run any cheaper than we are..Just look at the co's. goin down, or on the verge of goin down..Fact is, if they cut the rates down as low as some think, or let on..Their gonna be out of buisness at the first fuel stop they come to. I dont think they can do it any cheaper than we already are.

I want to speak up here. I think a lot of this is hype and it has caused some rough feelings toward Hispanic drivers out there that are neither illegal immigrants or Mexican drivers. My husband and I have had trucks in the industry for going on 15 years. We have been with FFE for 7 years and own our trucks..no lease just owners.
In his driving experience he has met up with some folks that were real hateful towards him calling him everything from racially derogatory names to accusing him of being illegal or one of them Mexican truckers..he is none of those but a Mayan Indian that was born in Honduras and is a naturalized US citizen and wants to support his American family working hard like everyone else. So calmer and cooler heads should prevail and people should think before they open their mouths and make assumptions. Had a few of those folks taken the time to look at the license plate on his truck they would have realized that it says GEORGIA..not Mexico. Illegal immigrants cannot work in the trucking industry...everyone should know what we all go through and there are no exceptions.
Mexican truckers are no threat to American trucker jobs. They cannot pick up anything going anywhere but straight back to Mexico. I think in exchange though that US truckers should be able to cross borders too..in a chance to increase their mileage and experiences. Driving in Mexico is different than the US. Most truckers that are going slower than the rest of traffic are expected to get over in the (shouldler lane..which is big enough for a truck) and drive so that others can pass...when no one is behind you then you can stay in a normal lane.
Just some things to think about on this subject.
