The last OTR I had was a pete with a 18 speed. A lot of the 18 speeds are used for heavy haul and that is rough on a truck. About a couple of years and they are due for a overhaul.

Found a 99 model W900L today a local lot has it....he thought it had 527k miles on it
which i did too after driving it but i got to snooping around the cab after the owner left
and found a service card with a guys name and number on it so i snatched it n called the
guy on the way home....:biggrin_2559:.....he wasnt the owner but he was driver of it since day 1....
come to find out truck has 1.5 million miles on it but honestly is in exceptional shape....guy
said he took really good care of the truck drove t like it was his own said he take it around the world if he
could....engine was overhauled at 850k miles said it used bout half gallon of oil to oil change no
leaks....has a 3 month old 13 speed in it a 5 month old radiator and the front rearend was replaced
when the tranny was replaced......he said he wold buy it with no hesitation its a solid truck...

guy that has it now told me he would put 4 tires with descent tread across front axle for
me and take 18k for it or put me 10 brand new tires on it and take $19.5 for it....he's guna throw
in a big visor on the deal too.....

guy told me that used to drive it that he went to turn his paperwork in and the bossman said
clean your stuff out we are shutting the doors and sold the 2 trucks....the guy advertising it as a
460HP N14 cummins but the old driver told me it was a 525HP.....truck runs good down the road
motor runs solid and strong and the truck has obviously been taken very good care of just cause
of how tight the inside is...has no rattles and just a solid feeling truck.....

Truck has the diamond tuck interior has sunroof and i guess its the studio sleeper its big compared
    to a flattop anyway.....

Now what do you guys know about a N14 Cummins?:biggrin_25524:

Sounds like you were able to get some good info from the former driver. The truck sounds nice. The price does not sound too far off the norm.
I think 1.5 mill.miles is A LOT. I have never has a N-14 Cummins so I do not have a opinion on the motor.
One thought I have is that I would rather take a chance on a truck that I know the history on.
If you are interested in an old fleet truck I would check into an EX-WALMART truck.
If you are looking for a Pete or a KW the one you posted might be the one. You were lucky on getting the history on the truck.
There are a lot of trucks on the market. Make sure it is the truck you want. After all you are the one paying for it.
    I wish you well.

thanks for the coment.....my main concern is the engine now....ive done a search on the forum
and im not getting a good vibe from alot the comments on the N14:biggrin_2557:....the truck i trust my
judgment on the test drive i took it on today that its a solid truck but the truck is pointless if the
engine is a hunk of turd

    ampm wayne Thanks this.

There is no doubt that a motor that has 1.5 mill. on it has been a good motor. The real question is how much life is left in it?
If you are serious about the truck take it to a shop you trust and get their opinion.
Please keep posting. I am interested in following your truck search.

im sure a 300 plus WB would be a problem but i figure if I stay 270 or less ill be fine.....

man i drive a 9900i now and hate it.....its falling apart and with only 200k miles on it......Im not hard on a truck either
I ease em around, I drove 9900i's for years then the
company I worked for switched to 379 ext hoods and ive been in love every since....if you guna do it....yea you gota
make money doing it but or you'll never survive in it but I wana look good doing it as well....if my truck looks good and is
clean I feel like driving it allday and be proud to be seen in it, but if im driving something that doesnt look good....
well.......I dont care to drive it.....maybe the wrong way to look at it but I figure if it looks good to me, and I have to
sell it 1 day it will look good to somebody else as well.....

And the seats dont go low enough in the farm tractors.....lol
