So, a year ago, in the middle of the riots, my LTL company issued air locks to all the drivers to ensure the airlines stay affixed and no one could disconnect them if we were to encounter rioters....

That being said, a year later, this country is even further divided and the mad men of the world have gotten even crazier. I'm no alarmist. But I have a wife and multiple kids back home I want to return to and I've also switched jobs. Now. I'm a regional Linehaul night driver out of the charleston SC area and drive nightly as far away as greensboro nc or Atlanta GA.

Does anyone have advice on a get home bag, Should the worst happen? I know the basics, high calorie food bars, water filter, ect. But what else should I be looking at.

I figure I can walk about 30 miles a day if conditio s were favorable, so that would put me 7-10 days out to get bavk.

I also run LTL and am in Iowa but run into Minneapolis so i understand what you mean. But for me its leaving the center with a fueled up truck, i dont stop anywhere but my company center in the city and watching the news. If things are bad i don't run. Period! I have always carried a credit card with me too. Thats a just in case of a breakdown or if i had to laydown i can get food/drinks whatever.

Do you think riots are going to cause you to have to walk 7 to 10 days back to Charleston? I would be certain you could get a ride and not have to walk. I get being concerned but if that's what you're worried about you better keep a 9mm or a 40 cal. tucked away between your water filter and protein bars.

Sounds like a survivalist movie. Maybe a Red Dawn moment where you head for the mountains. Wolverines!!!

And I agree with Hawkeye. If it's a crap storm in the city I wouldn't go period. Or I'd be going in during daylight early morning when the peaceful protesters are resting.

I think your get home bag would come in handy in a breakdown situation. I an O/O so I am in a different situation. But if there was civil unrest in an area, I would not take a load there.

You ain't walking 30 miles a day without plenty of clean dry socks. I also recommend moleskin to protect your blisters.

I have walked long distances numerous times and unless your feet are used to it, you will get blisters. Stop regularly to dry your feet and change socks.

    Can you define this?

Because for me, if the "worst" happens, I'd bobtail that company truck all the way to my driveway. The worst is only going to happen with a serious attack on 2A. If that happens, it will be the gun owners on one side with all the guns and bullets, and the other side will have pink dildos while they struggle to understand why the grocery store isn't creating more food.

The ‘get home bag’ won’t be for civil unrest. Like @God prefers Diesels said, WSHTF bobtail your arse out, and don’t be nice. The odds are better that your employment ends suddenly and you need to get home.

    Therefore, the GHB consists of
    1. A change of clothes.
    2. One of those battery banks to recharge your phone.
    3. $1000
    4. A credit card. You can’t rent a car with a debit card in most places.
    5. A parka

I don't know man. If things are so bad that you have to walk home that would suggest society and civility has collapsed to the point where you wouldn't make it far enough to need one of those protein bars before being attacked or killed. Packing a gun would only delay the inevitable. I guess you would get some satisfaction that you took out a few of your attackers before ammo ran out... or you failed to dodge that brick thrown at your head.

Are you just talking about being fired while away from home?. Then cash and credit card should be all you need. Rent a car and buy all the gas, food and water necessary to reach home.

In all honesty though, if I genuinely had such fears, I wouldn't be in a truck miles away from home.
