This may be a good place to use a Flir thermal imager? Just to see whats hot, how hot and when?

Are both lines to and from the motor getting too hot? Is there a flow restriction device inline to control motor speed or is it just on/off one speed?

That nylon air line is only rated for 200*F. My guess is you had a situation where a line got hot enough to melt thru a line. Was it at a steel fitting or in the ceter of the hose assy? I think it would take more like 3 or 400 to melt thru it.

Do you have a sister trailer you have compared temps too?

 

Any bent links or crossbars on the belt? Slightly bent crossbars are sometimes hard to spot and will drag in places you can’t see.

 

If you're seeing an 80° jump in temperature across a check valve, there is definitely a restriction in there. I'd investigate that further.

 

I'm gonna ask a real dumb question, but is your tank full of oil?

Trailer probably doesn't take too much oil to run it, but having a bigger tank in reserve, or in this case your tank being full of oil vs low, gives the whole system more oil to use overall keeping the system cooler.

At least that's the basics of how an old timer explained it to me one time. Full disclaimer I by absolutely no means claim to be a hydraulic man but I've got some of the basics down I think.
