Hey Nghthwk, I have a friend of mine who drives for May. He's pretty happy with where he's at. after training, he got to chose the type of truck he wanted. So, he got a 2005 Pete 379. They get him home when he wants to get home, and his miles are pretty consistant.

There you go, Hawk. One more opinion in the bin. Be sure to consider all sides before deciding to go with May. Maybe they have gotten their act together over there. But then again.......

Be sure to dig around in this site a little bit before jumping into just any ol' truck. Some companies are good to work for, some are great, while some are rotten. Watch out, is what I'm saying. And never compromise, of course.

    Good luck.

Crowman, you are on the edge. You're becoming a big ol' censor. What? Can't handle freedom of speech, you big flag-waver, you? Sorry if my posts aren't what you approve of. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm only going to keep pissing you off, man. I'm not going anywhere.

I quit Swift because they were jerks, liars, and even thieves. But you should already know this if you keep up with the 'Swift bashing' that goes on here. I'm just one drop in a very big pool.

And with all the bad treatment I got (before dumping my CDL), coupled with testimonies from other drivers and my own time spent thinking while driving, I've become a skeptic of many things--trucking, capitalism, democracy, and even the US of A.

Nothing wrong with being a skeptic. If someone doesn't like another's views, he doesn't have to listen. If he doesn't like one's posts, he doesn't have to read them. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head here. We don't live in China or North Korea. At least not yet.

If you as a potential driver DON'T do your homework on prospective employers, your just asking to get the shaft.
It's your life, and If you don't give a crap. Jump on with the first company that tells you everyhting you want to hear.
They in turn will fill a seat with what they want, and you will be a very unhappy person, with just another bad opinion of how trucking screwed you over. So, you owe it to yourself to do your homework, THOROUGHLY!

Don't forget the jobhoppers' whirlpool. The 'round and 'round you'll get caught in if you start with a bad company, quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no good company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no good company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no good company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no good company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no good company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no good company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck, go with another bad company (because you look like a job hopper and no good company will now touch you), quit 'em (or starve) because they suck..................

I certainly dont feel like getting on a merry go round cause the round in circles makes me dizzy ,I have finally gotten a pre hire from servicetrucking in central fl pulling reefers ,I havent seen any forums on them here, after rejections from Gordon, Roehl me snubbing schneider for mis stating my dac ,no response from FFE and several others Service wants me warts and all which I think a 98 misdemeanor is ludicrous to hold against a fella forever, but home every 7 to 10 days all 48 states which is good cause I am looking west ,and under 3 year old equipment ,so far they have been straight up with me and I with them,it just feels good to know where I am going for now:thumbright:

DAC is a report -- similar to a credit report -- that a company will check before hiring you. Any company that you work for -- if they subscribe to DAC -- will report information such as accidents, tickets, why you left. The large companies use them and often abuse them. I have read many examples of drivers who didn't leave a company on good terms, and the company will report that they left due to failure to follow company policy or if someone drops off their truck at a terminal closer to their home than the one the compay wants them to drop it off at, the company will put abandonment on their DAC. This type of info on your DAC will make it more difficult to find another job with a good company. This is a simple explanation of DAC, but if you want more info, try searching on the board -- there have been numerous posts about DAC, how they work, how to get a copy of your report and how to fight incorrect or misleading information.
