Some of us just prefer a long hood Pete or KW, and no I don't hate the International but its not something I would ever consider owning either...I have given some thought to getting back out on my own, after obama fixes everything like he promised of course....
To the OP that flat top KW doesn't look too bad based on pics I'd wonder how much longer you could go on the motor before rebuild though ??
Bad, Good, or Descent?

i agree.....if your guna buy it you may as well like it.....i prefer a pete myself but a kw
isnt bad and they just seem to be selling cheaper than the petes.....
i maybe wrong but how im looking at these 2 trucks is.....the $19.5 truck has 1.5 million miles on
it but has been well maintained and if the engine does for some reason need an overhaul, well
im at the starting price of the flattop.....and if the flattops engine hasnt been rebuilt then im just
going by what i hear, its gettin close to needing a rebuild, but if it has been rebuilt i think id rather
have the flattop, it looks better to me and has the cat engine which i really prefer, have never
had any probs with cummins in the trucks ive drove i just prefer the way the cat runs, it seems to
be smoother me and its painted this really cool yella color.......lol -
check this one out and tell me what you think - http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2246219

It all depends on the maintenance. I had a N-14 rated at 460 but for some reason put 505 to the ground (never had anything it with done and I bought it with less than 1k) and the only problem I ever had was 2 injectors in million miles. Right at the million mile mark had a head gasket blow out between exhaust valves so had a inframe done and the mechanic said it looked good and probably didn't need the in frame but was already into to it and I was already on vacation so might as well. Drove That truck anther 300k before selling due to wanting something I could stand up in (#### flat tops lol) Anyway I change oil every 10k and lube every 5 k. I have friends with cats have had the same results but again they are as anal about maintenance as I am. I now have a Detroit and didn't really like the power tell I had a custom tune put on the computer and now it seams to pull almost as strong as my old N-14. I do get better mpg with the Detroit and it uses NO OIL between changes (again at 10k) just didn't have the power of that big old Cummings till it got tuned up. I have always heard cats cost more to to work on but cant back that up sense I have never owned one (dove a few back in company days) Good luck with your search now is a good time to be buying a truck so just be patient there are alot of good ones out there. IMHO I would say away from anything with emission crap on it so a 2002 or older motor is what I would be looking for. There are some 2003's with 2002 pre EGR motors out there

except the clutch was never rite from the getgo in the truck so he took it back to dealership and they
replaced the clutch and every since they did that it had a small oil leak and i think at around
600k miles an injector went bad other than that it was a good strong running engine dont think it
used any oil to speak of.....company that bought it from us is still running it i think its near 800k miles
now and the new driver for it drives the living he11 out of it, he still thinks he is driving a truck with
a 318 Detroit in it or sumpn he whines the c0ck off it every gear and he says it still runnin strong, so they
have to be semi descent engines, i really figure they all are just depends how they get maintained and how
heavy the foot of the driver is.....my dad eases trucks around and he taught me how to drive or i learned
by riding with him and watching and from time to time he would let me drive....get madder n he11 if i grinded
a gear or wound it up too much so i learnt to drive like him
The truck my dad drove that had the N14 it was a 460 but was cut back to 435HP it pulled pretty good
the guy trying to sell this truck says this truck is 460HP but the old driver of it told me he doesnt know
what he is talking about it is set at 525HP.....Its pretty salty empty I wana drive it with a load behind it
It has easy access to slide the muffler off as well.....my dads had straights on it, it sounded pretty good but
it woulda sounded better if it had 7 or 8's on it instead of 5"....he had no jakes on his either this 1 does but the controls
for the cruise and jakes are on the wheelis there anyway to move them to a switch on the dash so I can put a nice
woodgrain wheel in there to match the dash? -
Yes they do real nice work.....the only thing that scares me about buying a truck from them, is almost every
truck they have has had some kinda chrome package done on it and repainted....which that is nice in all but
I would like to see what the truck looked like before they made it a fancy show lookin truck.....it coulda been
a rode hard put up wet truck missing the front bumper and fenders caved in and be easy to tell it hasnt been
taken very good care of but they do their deal to it and it looks like its been in truck shows its whole life but
has 900k miles on it of he11 -
why does everyone love flat tops there is no room to bend a girl over and have fun without swisting up, quite uncomfy
