I’m with you on that. I spend most non driving moments sucked in to my phone, getting mentally involved in news stories that have zero effect on my life, etc. Even at the expense of exercise, cleaning truck. Realizing that the old truckers sitting at the counter BSing are more connected than people watching photoshopped friends on FB

You are aware cell phones work when the power goes out, right?

Only if the cell towers within range of your phone have power such as a back up generator. Otherwise, they don't work.

I would think Apple iphones must have automatic app update like Android does.

If someone want save some money get Android phone vs paying the iphone price. Motorola makes some pretty cheap and good android phones with big batteries. I got cheap Motorola phone for like $300 when it was new and has basically 2 day battery because it's 5,000mha. It's unlocked phone and has all the cell phone antenna's and it can run on any network.

iPhones are good but expensive. I think the new iPhone 13 is like $1,000

Motorola has 5G phones with 128GB for $300 and $350 with 5,000mAH batteries. If people are already on iPhone system, you might want stay in the iPhone world since you probably have apps and everything already setup with Apple

No, what you are experiencing in people unsure of the wisdom of a hyperconnected world is that like all other major changes, it will alter society and how it interacts. Traditionally, this has not been a huge problem, the rollout of change was relatively slow and so cultures could adjust at a leisurely pace.

Today, the rate of change is so fast theres no time to recalibrate and this does lead to social breakdown because there arent any organic new rules around these things yet.
