I was sick of having to move my 8' tarps, and I'm getting rid of my bulkhead for a 3-door Merritt, so I needed some serious storage.
Don't mind the welds. They're like my trucking skill - ugly, but it works.![]()

If you're curious, my machine is a Miller Multimatic 215. Has a 210 MIG side, an does TIG and stick. Has high frequency start, swaps between 110 and 220 by itself, adjusts heat automatically based on your stick-out, and will auto set settings based on material thickness, but you can override WFS and voltage with the dials. It's a beautiful machine.

The door is 14 gauge, and the skeleton is 11 gauge. I've got 12 - 3/8 bolts looking up, and three more on each end for sheer strength. Also cut up a plastic mudflap for padding between the steel and aluminum.

Oh, I also fixed my dunnage rack. I underestimated how much of a beating it would take.

Haul a coil and check out the cage operation, SHOULD be good since its only bolted up on ends ?, but ive had shorter boxes where the arch going away messes with the doors.

Bolted at the ends, and the middle. But the bolts in the middle, I only got "tight", so the deck could flex down onto the box. I also made the latch hole oblong so the box could flex up and down and I can still open it.
But this is all theory. I won't know for sure until I put weight on the deck.singlescrewshaker, Bean Jr., OLDSKOOLERnWV and 4 others Thank this. -
Fair enough, consider getting compressible rubber as your "washers" for the center bolts depending on what it does on your first couple runsOLDSKOOLERnWV, cke, staceydude and 3 others Thank this.
