There is an iconic photo from that day on the internet. I refuse to post it, but I will LINK it. This photo shows two things to me. First, there is a recently retired Naval Officer whose mother is shown in it! Then way back in the background, there is a line of trees was standing what I understand is next to a road on the campus. Standing next to one of those trees was my first Officer in Charge when I was in the Air Force.

 

You can add the bonus March to that. Also the internment camps of us citizens of ww2. Also, history is a teacher on this. Government is the #1 killer of its own citizens in history. Hands down, by quite a bit.

No, there is plenty of examples of the National Guard more than willing to trample our rights simply because they were ordered to.

 

I'm all for the second amendment and own a fair collection of "ugly" guns myself, but I feel it's deluded to think that armed civilians are any deterrent to a tyrannical government as a few 2A proponents I know like to claim.

There is nothing that we are allowed to own that can stop or even effectively slow down the military or law enforcement if they are turned on us.

 

Not just National Guard. Local law enforcement swept through New Orleans after Katrina grabbing guns from lawful owners. Quite a few were never returned either. I am willing to bet some really nice stuff never even made it out of the patrol cars until the officers got home.

 

I think if tyranny took over that quite a few in the military and police would desert and take their arms with them. This unfortunately would leave the thugs unhindered by honorable men.

1. Battery bank for phone.
2. Lighter and some cotton I store in a ziplock.
3. $1.00 flashlight from Walmart.
4. Pocketknife.
5. Paracord.
6. Bang bang w/ extra mag
7. 2 pair of socks.
8. Ifak.
9. Emergency blanket.
10. Personal water filter/straw
11. Gloves.

 

During the protests last year I had a go bag. It was a go to the motel bag. I had my wallet and important papers and keys and stuff. Any protest is going to be in a city or at least a town, so you just walk out of affected area and call an Uber. Most likely it will simply mean your sitting in traffic.

Walk 30 miles a day for 10 days? Seriously?

 

Tell that to the Viet Cong and the Taliban. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of guerilla tactics to stop a large fighting force in their tracks...literally.
