Oh okay. I got you .I know what you're talking about now. Yeah we'd have to deliver those to meal on wheels and food banks too. I used to have to do the cheesecake factory they would take a whole trailer. I'd be running that ramp for about 3 to 4 hours nonstop. These Sysco pictures gave me bad flashbacks...lol

When I was at Sysco we'd have a liftgate for the Cheesecake factory; they'd get upwards of 500+ cases and it would take 4-5 hours just to do one. But you'd still have ten stops!
Glad they haven't come to US foods.Octrucker Thanks this. -

Good video. The problem is companies like Sysco have burnt all the drivers one way or another and now nobody wants to go back. If I went back I wouldn't have 10 stops anymore. It would be more like 20 stopsLast edited: Oct 4, 2021

sysco is The only company that was actively pursuing me and I knew that I physically couldn’t do the job. If they can’t get guys for the job because it’s too difficult than they either need to have two guys do it a driver and helper or they need to split the routes up or something. I don’t know what the answer is I just know having observed what they do and I’m 50 lift weights three times a week and in pretty good shape for my age, I saw right away that it would literally destroy me.Octrucker Thanks this.

I worked for Sysco in the mid 90’s , delivery into
NYC and the 5 Boros . Totally brutal commando
Job. I was in my late 20’s and in great shape and did food service previously. The trailers were always loaded wrong . You’d have 600 heavy cases going into the basement of Planet Hollywood all on a hand truck while double parked on 57th street, be there 4 hours and have 14 stops left when you left there . Another
400 cases into the basement of Harley Davidson Cafe around the corner and on and on. Total scumbag supervisors who were ####ty drivers that got hurt and went into supervision because no body wanted the job. They spent half there time following you to see if you were stealing time or putting extra cases on the truck to see if you brought them back. Total pieces of
#### that couldn’t lick your boots as drivers. They would lose 9 out of 10 drivers they hired. I lasted 2 years there and ended up buying my own truck and becoming an owner operator. The day I quit I cursed out the supervisor an inch off his nose in front of 5 drivers and said everything they wanted to say but didn’t. He quivered like the ##### he was. If he made one move forward , he was going to the hospital that day . Sometimes I wished he did...lol
Sysco is a blowjob company that should pay Atleast $150k a year maybe more and it would still be blood money . #### SyscoJohn Joel Glanton, Octrucker, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
I used to cover a route with 5 schools, 3 of them were usda orders. Pallets of 6/10s and heavy bulky freezers pieces. All by ramp. and I am happy to say I no longer work there. But I get severe anxiety everytime I drive by those schools

A guy I used to work with had two trailers worth a commodities for a school district. Had over 2000 cases one day. He had a helper but still a hard day when you have to unload it all by hand.
Octrucker Thanks this.
