Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Why not just get your own authority? You already have your plates and ins in place it sounds like.

Absolutely look into getting your own authority. You can get your MC# for $300.00, If you are a member of OOIDA, they will provide your process agents for free, and drug consortium for a minimal cost. Your insurance should be able to upgrade your insurance for you. You will need 1 mil liability to satisfy most brokers, 100k cargo. If a trailer is a problem, there are several large carriers that are taking on carrier partners. They do not care about qualifying you as a driver, as you will be self employed. They will probably require 1 mil general liability as well as a trailer interchange policy.
Not pushing a certain company, but JB has a power only plan that will give you regular freight pulling their trailers (if you do this, go %, not mileage). Otherwise there are other companies doing this as well. It is enough to get you back on your feet with a little more independence. Times are tough right now, and you have to do what it takes to survive.....
Feel free to ask any questions, or look up my username and posts. I have laid out real details as to my personal experience using JB.
(Mod- I'm not trying to advertise or anything, just trying to let this guy know about what has worked for me, if I am pushing it, let me know....)Baack Thanks this. -
thanks for the help at this time i am unable to get my own authority. i have stayed to long with a carrier with no miles
-
why?
-
Well dude, I'm sorry to hear that......
Times are indeed tough, and your "complication" makes it that much more difficult in times where most of these companies are taking advantage of the whole too many drivers issue. This is one of the reasons why I am working for myself, I haven't found any company out there worth working for. Its all me, as long as I can find the freight I need, I am paying the bills. I'm not making a killing, but I am surviving. Yes I am hauling JB freight in their trailers, but will put my load in their box anytime I need to, did it before Christmas to get me home.
The point is your gonna have to figure out what you are going to do. You are going to have to scrape up whatever it takes to do whatever you have to do. This is a real bad time to be looking for any job, much less a carrier to lease to with your problem.
I wish you the best driver.tdriver Thanks this. -
