Before you go on trying to split gears get your shifting perfected 1st. Splitting will come easy after you get full gear changes down pat. Try not to over think it man that will only make it worse
-
You could also go 8H to 8L then 7L to 6L to 5L to 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 -
SmallPackage, feldsforever and God prefers Diesels Thank this.

When I had to learn to down shift. The hardest part was actually slowing down. So look at the tach. Till you can do it by feel.
I either slowed down to much or not enough.
When your ALONE on the high way. Start slowing down. Say 70 to 55 +/-. By the time your at 52 to 48 you should have at minimum used the splitter.
After you get this. Then start learning how hard to break bringing down your speed so when you fluff the fuel in neutral you can slide into a lower gear.
Took me three weeks to get ok. Then about 6 months to get decent. But thats when I wore boots. -

Update up on your progress?

- To go from 8H to 4L?
- 8h or “13th” gear in my truck is 70 mph at 2100 rpm. 4L is around 8 mph. To do that I need a LOT of brake!
