In my current situation doing local work, I often do drives that are 7 minutes or less. Just warehouse to warehouse. Sometimes I switch trailers 7 times a day. Logging everything makes my logbook look like crap. There isn't even enough space for the all the trailers in the inspection part.

Any suggestions on how to log these moved a little better? Usually only drive 100-200 kilometers per day maximum. My company told me to just leave the logbook on "on duty" always, but I have never heard of that before.

@not4hire Is there something in Canada like the rule where the stops in the same city can be entered as one entry like we can down here?

    Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.

Our guys stay on duty for all their deliveries. If they drive to another town, go up then back to on duty for deliveries.

    Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.

Thanks for that. In my issue I do a delivery that's technically in Brampton, but I drive 6 minutes and I'm in Mississauga, technically it's a different city but I haven't driven in a 15 minutes increment. I'll just leave on duty and see where that goes.

Straight on duty is how I used to log multi stop city work when I was on paper log.

A carrier I drove for back in the day had different log books made up for the local guys. The inspection part had more space for all the trailer switching they did.

Given that this appears to be within the 160km radius of his 'home' base, does he even need a log book at all? Still need PTI documented, though.

Technically speaking a log book and PTI are separate things.

If you ever go out of the 160 k radius you need the last 14 days so ''maybe'' you need a log book.
In ON the MTO wants to see enough driving time to cover the mileage you book.

So if your total mileage is 180 k's book 2 hrs driving and the rest on duty, It doesn't matter if it's exactly when you actually drove.

Most drivers would just put it all on the drive time, then you just have to draw 1 line.

I used to do 15 min or whatever it took to first customer then on duty for a few customers then give another 15 drive I’d make sure my km/hr wasn’t too high and I had enough on duty to cover drops

And in the remarks section just put local work. instead of 'actual' place.
