I really don't know about how the recruiting works anymore. They change the style and policies around so much, it's hard to keep up with them. The .38 cpm sounds about right.
I don't know about putting anyone with a trainer. When I started back in 2000, I had 8 years OTR experience so they just threw me in a truck and said GO!. Things aren't like that anymore though. To put a driver with a trainer with a year and a half experience driving does sound a bit strange though.
As t0 2200 mpw, thats about what I am averaging as an experienced compliant driver. You will probably get more once they feel secure with your driving style and see how "compliant" you want to be with the company and DOT policies.
Good luck to you
I don't know much about how the teaming policies and pay work. I've never done the team thing for Shaffer so the mileage and pay I can't really comment on. I do know thier attitude toward teams are a bit different then solo drivers. 5000 mpw sounds pretty good. I think once again, your miles will depend how you work for them and how "compliant" you are with the rules and policies.
Prepass you have to ask the safety department about. They do have it available but the driver has to pay for it. It is not a company offered benefit yet. I don't know if they will ever offer it as a regular part of the truck equipment.
APU's are on some of our older trucks now. About a quarter of the 2007 models of Century class trucks have them. These trucks are being phased out as they get older. The new trucks they are bringing in are International Prostars and Freightliner Cascadias. These are all CARB compliant and wont have an APU on them. They are equipped with a bunk heater for heat in the winter but you will have to idle during warm summer days.
hope this helps

I think TruckerLlew is telling it like it is at Shaffer. My husband ran reefer and his miles were continually dropping. Stuck on the east coast for days at a time. The 1300 to 1800 miles a week is about it. Sometimes even less. No preplanning on loads. Home time, whenever they decided to get him home. Maybe every 5 to 6 weeks. I guess it's whenever they want you to go home. Sometimes sitting on the east coast for 3 days when he would have rather been sitting at home. Seemed like a great company when he started and went down hill and it was time to leave and move on. What they tell you and what it is, totally different.

I'd love to see your spread sheet...thanks!

I am a veteran and their web site says that they will look favorably on that if I come out of school with my cdl. Has anyone on here found that to be true?
Happy Thanksgiving!

Merry Christmas everyone. If your out in the snow storms ( as my husband is ), please pull over and take a break and stay safe. We want you to come home unharmed. To the Arrow employees, how low can they go. Good luck in your search for a new place to go.

Vaquero, My husband only received $50.00 back on his locks when he left and they charge you what $250.00 - $275.00 for them? How many good weeks were there compared to bad weeks? We had more bad weeks. Yes, home every 4 - 6 weeks sounds about right. He was never home when he requested to be, more when they decided to let him come home. He wanted to run hard, but never got preplanned trips and sat around a lot waiting, sometimes for days on the east coast. He had to leave just like you did.
