Was 2005 an okay year for Internationals? There's one on craigslist with 380,000 miles for $16,000. That's a decent dollars per mile number, but is this a troubled year for Internationals?

The cab and chassis were never really problematic. In most cases, what makes a great truck is how well it was kept up and engine/tran combo. Back in the day, they were good trucks. Easy to work on, easy to diagnose electrical, not too complicated. Very popular with many shops and most decent mechanics know them inside and out. However, time will always take it's toll. Remember, this unit is now over 15 years old. Low mileage doesn't mean it is in overall good shape. Some trucks if not keep care of will rot away. So it now depends on how rusted the frame is, how corroded the cab is and so on. At this age, check the front cab mount brackets where they bolt to the cab and frame for major corrosion and deterioration. Check around where the windshield meets the cab for rotten cab metal and deformation from rust and corrosion. As for engines, most shops are good with Cummins, but Cat left the trucking market a few years after this truck was built, so most shops don't have good experienced Cat engine guys anymore. I would personally stay away from that. Also, stay away from it if has a ZF Meritor automatic trans because those are also very rare and can be hard to find service.
