2016 Cascadia mileage

    I'm currently getting around 7.3 mpg. Not sure if this is good or not? I was getting around 7.5 but that was with a bit more deadhead. It's gotten up to 7.8 but that was one trip with roof joists that wasn't that heavy. I've only had the truck for around 4 months now and I don't know pretty much anything about the previous history on it such as when the air filter was last changed and such. I typically fuel at the Love's. Not sure that means anything but I have heard drivers talk about fueling at mom and pop's fuel stops where they claim the fuel is better and thus better mileage. This mileage is usually at 75,000 lbs. I rarely run light loads. This truck is a manual 10 speed with a DD15 engine. Oh and I run flatbed. The truck also is full size, not the mid-roof. Oh and I run 65 mph.

    I have 2016 cascadia 125, dd15, 13 speed, 3.58 rears ratio. I run the speed limit in every state. 35000 lbs is the heaviest load I pull. I am at 7.5. I fuel where it is cheapest for me. Usually at the ta petro. I pull dry box.

    That's pretty good for heavy and pulling a flat. The food service company i worked for were spec'd 10sp, 455hp, progressive shift enabled and got about 6.8 fleet avg. Lots of stop and go city traffic. The newer dt12 autos got closer to 1mpg better

    Dang so your getting 7.5 running 75? I'm running 65 everywhere. I haven't even tried running 70. Haven't had the truck for very long.

    Variances happen. Temperature, weight, wind. Winter fuel blends generally drop it some. You might drive a little different, or harder at times. Even if your weights remain the same, your load shapes will vary on a flatbed generally causing aerodynamic differences. You might see more hills one day compared to others. Tire pressures change with temperature. Sometimes you forget to put the cap back on after getting fuel. It all affects it. I get a 1 mpg variance over the year. If you start seeing large mpg drops happening fast, that's when you need to worry.

    I get 7.3 to 7.4 in summer and about 6.4 in winter with flatbed. That's doing a lot of 75 mph driving. I am empty half of my miles, as I'm only loaded one way.

    As for the fuel, the only difference is whether they have bio or not. Some people swear bio drops fuel mileage but I've never seen it unless it's an older motor. Personally tested with my trucks knowing the exact blends that were in the ground and have never seen a difference. Older motors do have some reasons for avoiding it. Some areas can only get bio blends from the fuel racks these days and that's happening more and more every year. And never fall for "Premium" diesel at any of the small places. They just throw a 2.5 gal jug of concentrated additive in the tank and charge you more. Often they just use a winter blend year round which makes zero sense. That's if the driver even added it. Worked with a couple drivers that didn't even know you were supposed to add it while dropping fuel, and worked with even more that were too lazy to do it. Speaking of lazy, Pilot drivers in particular like to skip additive during the winter because they don't think it should be their job. They usually use two 2.5 gal jugs and that's just too much work for them I guess.

    I can't tell you how many times I had guys come up to me telling me they loved the premium diesel. The placebo effect can be amazing.

    Well, maybe it's the temperature then as it is getting cooler here in Texas being that it is October and all. I would have never thought that cooler temperatures would give poorer mileage though.

    Have you tried these diesel additives that are supposed to clean injectors and def filters? They say the stuff will improve mileage also..

    About half mountains and hills. Cruising 65 to 68.

    Drivers are idiots, don't listen to any of them. Every diesel pump within 5 hours draws from the same diesel bulk tank. All the same fuel. Skip the additives too, they are for stupid people. Your air filter should have a restriction gauge. The mpg you claim is what I got driving a company truck last year with a 12 speed auto. So right in line with a dd15 with dpf intact. You want more mpg, you know what to do....

    Ok, so your getting what i get pretty much so its about right im thinking. With fuel going up mileage is becoming more of a concern.
