I am a 43 yr old male, been in the home improvement thing all my life.Always thought of trucking when the knees and back began to creek.I am here.I dont have any family to speak of,dont mind campin(in the rig) and can pretty much go anywhere.I have read about cdl schoold and will probably sign up at Central Tech.I would like some input about compainies that someone like myself may want to work for.I just want to work, save and get through it safely as possible.I think Id prefer long trips versus short. As I said,Im free to go anywhere.I dont get homesick, dont care where I stay either.Just like going somewhere, dont need to know whats on the other end. Thanks

Im guessing that means that CFI does some kind of "specialized" trucking? Please keep in mind I am just getting started researching the web about the business and hardly know much.I will check out CFI on the web too and maybe learn more.Thanks.

I think you posted in the wrong section of the board, unless you plan on going from central tech directly to owning your on truck. Check the top few sections of this site's home page to find more info on companies. I'm in the same boat as you are: 27 years old and free as a bee. I can go out for long time without thinking about home, and I don't have a wife or kids to worry about. I'm looking for a high mileage good pay company to get my requisite year of OTR experience.

    Good luck to you.

Thanks for the reply Lightoftheworld.Yes,I am in the same boat and looking to do the same thing as you.How long have you been driving? You mentioned a pre-requesite year so I guess that means you are just putting in your time driving for someone and intend to make a move after the "requesite"year is up?Where did you learn to drive? What kind of driving do you do now? Thanks.
