I couldn't find a thread for my question..so here it is...So I have a 2000watt inverter..its been giving me a problem..I can use a TV, PS4, and phone charger and it works fine...but whenever I try to use a single portable burner..it starts beeping loudly and says LUP on my inverter..I dont think its my batteries..but does anyone have any input on why its acting up and what to do?? Any info helps..thank you!

Edit...it started smoking/sparking like a week ago from the ground wire..its been hooked up this way and has never been changed for a year now..so I dont know why it would start like this out of nowhere..

The first thing is, you have a circuit breaker or a fuse near the battery for the line that runs up into the cab right? So that your truck doesn't catch on fire right?

It has not tripped the circuit breaker?

Second check all of your connections at your cables and check the cables themselves. Take all the terminals off and make sure they're clean and they have a good tight connection. Make sure nothing has rubbed or is shorting out. Check whatever plug that you are using to the Burner that wire isn't having problems.

Are any of the cables or wires hot to the touch?

If all that checks out maybe you should try another Appliance to see if maybe that burner is defective or having a short,

I suppose your inverter could be having problems, but if you see arcing at the ground cable, my real thought would be that you are having a connection problem or a cable problem.

Whatever it is I would stop and fix that immediately.

No it hasnt tripped it...when using the PS4 I had the tractor off...and the PS4 was super hot to the touch and shut off..when turning tractor back on..it worked with no problems...also about 6 months ago 2 outlets on the inverter stopped working and only 1 outlet works now..

If it’s not a pure sine wave inverter there are some items it will not run.
I bought an induction cooktop, it would not work on a modified sine wave ( most standard inverters) inverter.

You need someone with electrical expertise to look at that truck ASAP, before it burns to the ground. It sounds like the 12v cables are in bad shape.

LUP is a Low voltage code. Are you running the inverter just off the batteries?

Yea I have the inverter connected to the batteries...but half the time the rig is on..the voltage on my gauge shows nothing wrong..and I have no problems with rig turning on..

The most important question hasn't been asked. How big are the cables (what gauge) and how long is the cable run?

Also, a TV, game system and chargers for portable electronics use very little AC power. Anything like a microwave, hot plate, toaster oven uses TONS of AC power. We're talking huge difference.

If you are trying to use that burner without the truck running then there is your problem but a bigger problem is not knowing how your inverter is wired or what the power needs are of the things you're using.

You are playing with fire, literally.

The heat generated by the arcing isn't doing the inverter any favors, either.
