Can anyone tell me the process of port trucking, moving containers? I may be moving to Virginia where there are multiple shipyards and wanted to know how this works and if they pay by the container.

    thank you

There's a whole section here just for port roaches. If you like making less than employee wages and with tons more responsibility You’ll love it.

With your own authority or leasing to a carrier? I lived in Virginia beach up until a few years ago, the shipyards in Norfolk have nothing to do with containers, you're probably thinking of the container terminals VIG in Portsmouth and NIT in Norfolk.

How much does your best run pay you total (gross)? What are the pick/drop zips?

With my own Authority. I use to live there and I use to see all the containers going from one place to the next. Maybe I was thinking about the Newport News shipyard

That will do. If that's the case, it's not for me.

    Thanks

Those seem to be good rates to me. What am I missing?

Those are only loaded mile rates. Gonna be coming back empty so take that per mile figure and cut it in half.
