They should be! Of course they're going to, "make it right" because if they don't they won't get paid. IMO though, "right" is subjective. Losing an extra two days of revenue without being compensated for it isn't "right" to me when a shop fails to live up to their end of the deal because of something stupid they never should have done. I'm not even mentioning the shop because I believe they're good people and I don't want to hut their rep but your idea would be applicable here. If they had to pay me 1k/day right now, they'd be a lot more careful to avoid these easy to avoid mistakes.

    Rideandrepair and LoneRanger Thank this.

Considering losing 1-2k a day and paying $150 an hour and they mess up is very frustrating. Most places are a joke. At least the shop I go to tries to give me breaks on parts and labor when they screw up.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

One scenario I have got into multiple times with our dealer and troubleshooting stuff like the 559 fault code on the is at 140 bucks an hour and 375 to put on the dyno I can throw several parts at it and at least they are new. I do look at Quickserve and try to use some mechanical aptitude. But it is really frustrating to spend a couple of grand on troubleshooting with no results. I tend to think that if you are just following the instructions on the laptop and don't really grasp the principles of the system you might need more training....

Update: Was working good for about 45 mins then began slipping. Headed back to the shop. Going back to the dealer in the morning.

I know it doesn't help anyone here but I just am shocked and disappointed at technology.

The clutch is a very simple concept. What Midwest is describing is only because engineers decided a regular mechanical clutch that has been used probably since the early nineteen hundreds was not good enough.

I know I really am a dinosaur but I don't see the reason for any of this. You put in a regular clutch with mechanical linkage and everything works like it's supposed to for years and years and years. Then the brilliant engineers come in and want to add this and add that make this better and higher technology and this will be better for everybody and you end up with problems like this.

I lost track of how many places he has been to, but to me it's a bizarre notion that a slipping clutch would have to go through 3 or 4 different repair shops and it's still not fixed.

I think the so-called technology really is just stupidity. Simpler is better and less expensive with less parts to replace and more reliability.

@Midwest Trucker I hope this place will take care of it.

They sent a driver to our yard to pick the truck up so at least that shows some initiative. Service manager is involved now so we’ll see.

Gotta love the mechanic bashing. If you folks had half a clue to begin with you'd probably be able to fix it yourselves without needing a mechanic.

Well it wouldn't be the first time I seen a new eaton clutch come out of box with pressure plates backwards. To many modern mechanics are not smart enough to take time to check this.

But if this has been torn down so many times, they are not paying attention to what is happening. They are slamming new parts in. They need to spend sometime looking at it during disassemble. It will tell you exactly what is happening.

No, I dont have a answer.
