The problem with eastern montana is there is like 2 plow trucks working a 400 miles radius. Then add the wind between livingston and billings . just makes for a rough day.

There's no California's though, so it can't be all bad.

If you have a Wyoming DL there process is intended for people who would not put a burden on the resources of small towns in Wyoming to get around the rolling closures.

But be careful on the secondary roads as WYDOT has had budget cuts for decades now and they often will ignore those routes during big storms.

The storm yesterday wouldn't have been a good one as the wind curved from Lander to central Utah.

We just try to have a load both directions and slow down when we need to to be safe. Driving 70mph in a 70mph cross wind has twice the tipping force but it is a squared term so dropping 10 to 20 mph in most winds below 50 mph will dramatically reduce the risk.

Wind when light while trying to keep at the governor max speed or speed limit is how most people seem to crash.

Especially for new drivers who want to hammer down and get to a safe haven when they should be slowing down.

The bridges where you get those gusts and which were icy yesterday are the real killer.

Going home now Ryder can’t fix the problem for at least another day. Company owner is furious. Warehouse guy will load another trailer in the morning.

It doesn't help there are individuals out there telling rookies that going slow in winds is more dangerous because it means you're not slipstreaming and the gusts can get you harder.
