For whatever it's worth knowing there are a lot of qualified drivers without jobs right now, I see two pretty good LTL companies are hiring drivers. I check the Con-way page often and noticed this morning that 161 terminals posted driver openings on 12/23/09. FedEx Freight's site showed a ton also.
This is an odd time of year for freight companies to hire but both of these companies are gaining market share and need drivers. I noticed Con-way was hiring at every Pa and Oh location which are tough areas to find jobs right now.
Hope this helps someone.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

They are probably waiting on YRC to go under, to pick up some of their freight
-
I'm sure there's plans for that, but both carriers have been gaining market share since about mid June and need drivers.
-
They're even running ads in Florida, in certain areas.........

A buddy of mine at Menlo Logistics said there might be news breaking today about the fate of YRC.

Broke already, last night !!
