Hey Rob; As an airline pilot who spent many (way too many) Christmas's away from home just tell your kids you will have another Christmas when you see them. Even if you put a little tree in the truck they will love it. A kid can't have too many presents to open or visits with dad. My 2 (now adults) said how they loved having more than one Christmas (or birthday). They will understand you're trying to take care of them and will accept those times you are away. Safe highways to you and Hwypilot.
ampm wayne, PharmPhail, LDH26 and 2 others Thank this. -

Less weight.
Likewise, you have to get the tire revs changed in your ecm from tall rubber to low pros for your speedo to read properly...something like 205 for tall and 215 for short rubber if I remember correctly.
So basically your tach revs will be the same at speed.
I'd stay with tall rubber.....less hassle. -
The '01 model is part of the reason for higher mpg - no EGR system chewing up your fuel card. The popular vote with everyone so far is that EGR system can hit you for upwards of .5 mpg - too bad there's no plus side to running a "cleaner" (maybe) engine.
If I had it to buy over again (and I do love my truck) I'd get an older model with no EGR system, slightly taller gears and a stronger trans.
As far as the 22.5 vs. 24.5's - the 24.5's are a taller tire so you'll run less revs per mile. That allows you to run lower gears (higher ratio numbers) at the same rpm compared to 22.5's. The 22.5's are lighter in the specs, and are more common on Volvos (tall rubber is rare as pig wings on these things). I'd also thought the 22.5's might take road damage better, they have more sidewall and bulge than the 24.5's IMO. -
Rob, sorry to hear about your Christmas being interrupted. I say one of us should whoop slick willies butt. More on that later...
