Been driving for a couple of years and thinking about becoming a owner operator. Looking at a 97 International 9800 cabover with the m11 - 600k miles. Trying to get away from buying a new truck and having to use an eld. I'm from South Jersey so I'm thinking about taking a load down to Florida once a week at $4 a mile and back hualing from Florida to Jersey. Can someone tell me if the Cummins M11s are good for something like that? Like I said I'll only be going down and up once a week with a 40k + load. Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

    Should def work.
    Probably make 4k down
    An 1500 up.
Should be able to clear 4500 easily.

    M11 good cheap motors.
    Depends on price
I would find something with an N14

Depending on the tranny behind it, M11 are a decent motor. With proper maintenance you should be fine starting out. Hopefully it has a 13sp? Better yet an 18sp? I always figure the smaller the motor, more gears are necessary.

its only 40K,,,10 speed is plenty. Had N11/13 pulling trains in 98, 140K,,don't know WTF anyone thinks they need 18 on paved road. I have 18 in current truck and never split the bottom gears.

    VLeeJr Thanks this.

I agree, the price is way up there for a Cabover. But prices on all trucks are crazy right now, unless it trashed out.
