Changed my first air bag yesterday. An older hand stop by and watched me do it.
I was using a monkey wrench. He jumped in his truck popped out with the right wrench and wright way to do it.
He explained, that had I done it the way I was thinking the frame would have pushed the threaded rod thru the bag. He had said start the bolt and put the nut on it a couple turns. Pull the bag open a couple inches. Start the bottom bolt the same way. Then put on the air line bolt and fill the bag. Then tighten. Worked like a charm. He wasn't to impressed I didn't have tread tape. I assured him ill get it on there this weekend.
If your reading this thanks jim.

Just a FYI: the liquid thread sealer is easier to work with in tight places.

Unless it was from a tire I’d probably practice on the other 3/7 bags because I doubt they are much better

What DO you have? At the absolute bare minimum, I'd carry:

    Crescent wrench
    Vise-Grips
    Pliers
    Phillips and flathead screwdrivers
    Hammer
    Flashlight
    Baling wire
    Duct tape

That's the bare minimum. I have a 18x18x48" toolbox mounted to my frame that's dedicated to nothing but tools, and I still feel like I'm underprepared.

As I use tools I add them. I had to purchuse that wrench yesterday from Lowe's. It wasn't the best quality to be honest. Kobalt makes decent tools. I have several decent sets for my automobiles.
I don't have baking wire. ( not sure what that is), hammer or flat head from your list. I will get those when I get home. No need in buying more.

18x 18 x 48 tool box. Are you sure you know how small my truck is? Lmao. I will gladly carry all them tools. But they have to fit under the bed.
Tool question. Is my 3/8ths breaker bar decent or should I up size ot once or twice.?

All I need is to set the alarm on my phone for 0400. I'll be down at the shop in the morning before it gets busy, And all the air bags, including the ones on the cab will be changed in a little over an hour.
