    That's the irony.

    You have to keep an old beater truck because the $200,000 truck you just bought is going to break down and you need something dependable on hand...

    Yeah I ain't gonna knock on him for that. This is trucking and **** happens. Most of us have been down this road before regardless if the equipment was $200,000 or $20,000.

    This is a scenario where having a truck under warranty is costing the truck owner money. If it was out of warranty they would have already changed every part in the hydraulic assisted clutch linkage like Goodysnap suggested. The owner's cost of the parts is a fraction of what has been lost in downtime.

    To clear up some things... this isn’t a warranty job. The engine is still under warranty but the clutch doesn’t have warranty. I don’t expect to be charged for this extra work redoing what they’ve already done, if they try that then we’ll have big problems. The previous shop that did the clutch the first time I didn’t take it back too because I felt like this wasn’t a normal problem and I wanted the actual dealer to do it. Yes, this meant paying for a clutch all over again but I just wanted it fixed. I’m glad I’ve taken it to the dealer because even they are having trouble figuring it out.

    As far as having a backup truck... I do have a 1979 but I don’t want to put it on the road. I have extremely few break downs since I run such new stuff but when I do there is a good chance I have a truck sitting anyway. This is just poor timing it being a freak deal and I happen to be full on drivers. Also, normally I could ask my Dad to use the truck I sold him last year but he’s deep into harvest and it’s working everyday. So, I can’t put him out.

    Crazy ordeal! Like I said, I just want it fixed. The price of repair is frustrating but the truth is i just need the #### truck.

    If you can get the truck hot and get it to slip. Get under the truck as timely as you can. Have inspection cover already removed. Crack the bleeder on the servo and see if the fork moves slight toward release.

    The air supplied to the servo is only to assist the hydraulic to decrease pedal effort. Even without proper air supply to the actuator the clutch should never slip.

    Your post reminds me of my cam shaft issue with Cummins last March....the first thing every party involved wanted to do was point fingers at the other party including me .

    Showed up at 7am and the service manager and two of his techs came out. They pulled the truck in immediately and got to work.

    This time they decided that the master cylinder was bad and that it was keeping pressure on the servo. So, they replaced the master cylinder and the line running to the servo.

    So far the clutch isn’t slipping anymore but the real test will be tomorrow when real weight is pulled.
