I may get a GMRS and just listen for a while. That way I can hold off on the license and SWR meter until I hear enough traffic to warrant keeping the radio

I will start carrying one of my GMRS. HTs and listen to 7. I was carrying an HT for a while but schedule has been crazy last couple months. My KG1000 is still in the box lolAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

Been on channel 7 in AL for a few hours. Heard a couple brief instances of white noise. Every time I hear noise I ask for a radio check. No responses yet. I only have an HT with me so I'm sure that limits RX/TXAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.
