If you're are 65 and you get on your AZ licence more then 2 points , you are automatically degratet to G licence. This apply in Ontario.
The Government have chosen to earn money on older folks becouse it's easy .This is the most disqusting rule against older drivers .The plan is simple ,get more cheap labour from overseas.
This can happen only in Canada . Provincial Government. They all should go to jail for creating such a law. This is slavery ,how it can be legal

Senior Ontario truck drivers balk at road test requirement

Hugh MacDonald’s career as a truck driver is coming to an abrupt and unexpected end.

The 68-year-old had planned to keep driving until next year, building on the 3 million miles he traveled over the last four decades. But that was before the ticket came. He was cited by an Ontario Ministry of Transportation officer for traveling 106 km/h on a stretch of Hwy. 7 with a posted limit of 80 km/h.

He paid the fine and accepted the three points on his licence. Then the ministry notified him that he had to complete a new vision, written and road test, or automatically be downgraded to a G licence that would limit him to driving a family car.

Any driver 65 or older who accumulates more than two points faces the same requirement.

“I wanted to go to next year,” MacDonald says of his retirement plans, partially delayed to offset the rising costs of a new home. “I don’t want to go through all the driving test and all that for another six to eight months [of work].”

The Almonte, Ont., trucker begrudgingly accepts the ticket, although he says he never received as much as a warning when previously traveling around 100 km/h on the route. But he thinks it’s unfair that senior drivers are held to a tougher standard. If he was under 65, he wouldn’t face another road test.

Simple solution...don't speed ! Don't drive 26 km over the limit and then whine about it after you get caught.

If he’s a 3 million mile driver then I’d think a few more miles for a retest shouldn’t be an issue.

Not long ago if you were over 65 and held a AZ you had to do a road test every year. This was the compromise for not having a road test every year. It's been the rule for a few years now..

Could he just go to another province and get a Lic - that way can still drive... if he has been driving for that long - will other provinces test him?
Watch this become a scam now...

Thank you ,this is a good point but ,you were aware of that .You had your license and you can drive to Ministry by yourself..Now my fello driver had to take course 3500 dollars becouse trucking schools will not take you as a passanger to MTO anymore .He couldn't rent a truck becouse he had no licence anymore and nobody can help because if no licence no insurance for rental .To loose your licence you don't have to speed only ,winter is coming and everything can be your fault .I think its awful situation ,I don't like discrimination formula ,but in whole world there is no such thing that for one mistake your can became homeless.
To those who think about retiment it's not easy task in recent times ,many of as will have to work or hit real poverty .

Maybe they figured his eyesight was failing because he failed to see the 80 km/h sign?
