Anyone out there haul livestock - need some details...have drivers saying they want to move to that - we do dry van... am researching rates and lanes - but need input on the driver side...
Is it worth the extra regulations - what is transit time, do they need to run in teams? What is the driver's responsibility?
    thanks

I am no longer a trucker so not on here anymore. Hopefully, you have figured it out. If not, contact national truck league and g&g trucking solutions based in bramptom

The responsibility of a cattle, chicken, or pig hauler. Is pretty simple suck on those special toothpicks. And haul absolute arse across the interstate!!!

Your responsibility is get them from A to B in as good a shape as possible in the most timely manner.

Driver loads and unloads with most cattle operations by himself if necessary. I don’t haul hogs but I know they have more strict bio security etc.

As far as teams there usually isn’t enough for a team truck. Short stuff first part of the week then load up and go west the last part. Very little rate negotiations per load.......usually a given area pays what it pays take it or leave it. The load board only has the junk no one wants so someone needs to know you for your phone to ring or for you to call them. It’s a different deal.......some buyers charge the truck for downers or cripples others don’t unless it’s a habit.

It’s way easier to teach truck driving than animal handling finding good hands that cab do both....well they already got a job and usually are not interested

Your drivers know anything about livestock ????????????
    Do the know the difference between a bull & a cow ? or a barrow & a gilt ????
Are they faint of heart ..( to put it nicely)..?????
If the answer is NO.. to any of the above questions .
Just keep swinging your dry van doors shut and go on.
BTW...there's more to it than those 3 questions i...It ain't all about riding fast and chicken lights ..
